I love MAC lipsticks even though they are very expensive and put a dent in my purse every time I enter the MAC store. Today’s review is going to be the famous Ruby Woo lipstick that I had bought a while back. I had always wanted a matte lipstick from MAC and I had bought only satin finishes before buying this one. So how is the Ruby Woo lipstick?
What the company claims:
MAC describes Ruby Woo as retro matte red shade.

My take on the Ruby Woo lipstick:
Packaging:
MAC Ruby Woo lipstick packaging is the same as the any other MAC lipstick with a sleek black bullet body with a polished metal neck. I have seen the same bullet packaging in gold used by Gerard Cosmetics and I wish MAC would also change their packaging to something better. Don’t get me wrong, the packaging is amazing and is a identifying trademark of the lipstick, but they should change with time. When they came out with the limited edition of Riri Woo ( more or less the same shade), they got a new packaging for that lipstick edition and everyone was totally raving about it.
Formula and Texture:
MAC says that this shade is vivid blue-red color with a retro matte finish. That is another way of saying that the finish is super matte. I totally love this shade as it like a classic red shade. The texture is not so creamy but as soon as it is applied, it is becomes super drying. The lipstick tugs on the lips when it is applied and within the first hour starts to dry the lips out and by the time I take is off, my lips is completely dry like a crayon.

Staying Power:
The MAC Ruby Woo stays on for around 5 to 6 hours but, personally and probably for everyone who has this lipstick, within the first hour, the lipstick will feel very uncomfortable and by then end of the evening, there is nothing more that you or I would want other than just wiping the lipstick off and applying lip balm to sooth the lips. Red lipsticks always bleed and Ruby Woo is no exception. But it bleeds minimally and will not give you an embarrassing red line below your lip. When it starts to fade out, it goes off evenly and in the end leaves a red tint on lips which does not turn me off as it is even and looks like natural red lips.
Suitability and Dupe:
When it comes to classic red color, everyone wants to give it a go and the MAC Ruby Roo is one that will suit all skin tones. As everyone knows this is not a subtle lipstick and perfect for the all occasion where you want to pull off a sexy pin up looks or for parties. The bright and happy red shade of the Ruby Woo is awesome but if you want the shade for a cheaper price then the dupe for this is the Revlon Really Red lipstick.
